UnlockResume (“we”, “us”) is a resume-tailoring tool. This page explains what data we collect, why, and how it's handled. We keep this simple on purpose: we don't sell your data, and we collect as little as we can to run the product.
What we collect
- Account info. When you sign in with Google, we receive your email address, name, and profile picture from Google. We use this to identify your account and enforce the free-tailor limit.
- Usage data. We store how many times you've used the tailor feature and your subscription status (free or paid), tied to your email.
- Your tailored versions. Each time you tailor your resume to a job, we keep that version on your account along with the company name we detected, so tailoring for a new role never overwrites the one you sent somewhere else. We keep the most recent 20 and drop the oldest after that. We do not store the job descriptions you paste. Deleting your stored resume from the account panel deletes every saved version with it.
- How you found us. When you first arrive we record the site that linked you (the domain only, such as “linkedin.com”) and any campaign tag on the link. It tells us which of our posts actually help people find the product. We never store the full address of the page you came from, and this is recorded once, not on every visit.
- Resume content. Your resume is stored in your browser (localStorage) as you edit. If you are signed in, we also save a copy to your account so your resume is still there when you come back, or when you sign in on another device. That copy includes whatever you put in your resume — typically your name, email, phone number, location, links, work history, and education. We store it so we can give it back to you, and for nothing else: we don't sell it, we don't share it, and we don't use it to train any model. If you are not signed in, nothing about your resume leaves your browser except what is sent for AI processing, described below.
- Job descriptions. Job descriptions you paste stay in your browser. We don't save them to your account.
- AI processing. When you tailor a resume, generate a cover letter, or import a PDF, that content is sent to our AI providers (Google Gemini and, as a fallback, Groq) to be processed and returned to your browser. We don't keep a separate copy of it beyond the resume saved to your account.
- Analytics. We use Vercel Analytics, which collects anonymized, aggregated page-view data. It does not use cookies or track you individually.
Third parties
Resume and job description text you submit for AI processing is sent to Google (Gemini API) and, as a fallback when needed, Groq — both under their own data-handling terms. Account records and the resume saved to your account are stored with Supabase. We don't sell or share your data with advertisers or data brokers.
Your controls
You can clear your locally-stored resume data anytime from your browser's site settings, or by clearing the app's local storage. To delete the resume saved to your account, or your account record itself (email, usage count), get in touch and we'll remove it — see the contact page. Deleting your account deletes the stored resume with it.
Payments
If you purchase the Job Search Pass, payment is handled by a third-party payment processor. We do not store your card or payment details ourselves.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, we'll update the date above. Continued use of UnlockResume after a change means you accept the update.
